Hie Shrine
This month we finally made an appointment to get tourist passports for our kids. We took the train in and didn't want to make the journey without seeing something in Tokyo. So we decided to go to Hie Shrine. It was a really beautiful day and lots of [people had their kids there all dressed up in traditional clothing to celebrate Shichi-Go-San, the right of passage festival for 3, 5, and 7 year olds. While we didn't dress up or participate in any of the prayers/blessings we did feel it appropriate to be there considering we have a kid at each of those ages. My favorite part of the temple was the monkey temple gaurds and the tori gate stairway was really cool.
After the shrine we had a picnic lunch at a nearby playground The kids got some wiggles out and we saw a cool castle motel nearby.
The train ride back was a bit stressful with tired kids, but we made it and got to relax witha movie when we got home.
We also had some fun park moments this week, and I got these cute pictures.
