School Trips

This year our kids are getting used to a new school with a much different feel that the american schools that they previously attended. This year the oldest 4 were blessed to have overnight school trips. Louis and Grant went to a fun overnight trip to a camp down in Porto de Galhinahs near Recife and Pace did a whole weekend down at an adventure camp in the state of Sao Paulo. And Kai's class did an overnight pajama night at the school. Jake and I were definately a bit nervous about having our kids travel without us, but we have been impressed with the organization and care that Maple Bear has shown our kids. So we signed them up. Pace went in the middle of October and flew with classmates down to Sao Paulo. His first flight without us. He was brave and excited to go. The camp in Sao Paulo sounded amazing from everything we heard from Pace and saw in the pictures the school sent. Pace was able to touch an aligator and an iguana. They had a full size dinosaur skeleton to discover and dig up. They did boat rides, swam, hiked, and much more. They stayed busy from sun up to late at night every day. Pace absolutely loved it and took a few days to recover from the exhaustion. We're so grateful he was able to experience it and practice his portugues on his own.
Louis went the first weekend in November to Porto de Galinhas. He also had fun with a foam bath, riding a bungee swing, hiking and just having fun.
Grant got to experience the same trip as Louis a week later, but spent more time fishing. He said a highlight of his trip was playing a big game of hide and seek with one of the camp directors.
Kai's pajama party included games, shirt decorating, flashlight games, and more. When I talked to him about it later he said that it was really fun. At first he was scared to be away from us, but then he just started having fun. Unfortunately I got no pictures, but so glad he got to experience it. We're thankful for the school and these adventures.
