House Hunting and The Zoo
After the first week our life got busy with house hunting and the kids starting school. Pretty sure we looked at about 15 houses and apartments. So, in between all the business we had beach time and sightseeing. Some of the apartments we looked at had amazing views. This one had the best view, but the apartment was small and had a crack in the ceiling (which didn't bode well for me as it was on the 30ieth floor or something like that).
And we've built some pretty fun sand casles on our afternoons. I love to go to the beach as the sun is getting low. And the water here is so warm!
On our first Saturday the kids decided that they wanted to check out the zoo. It's very small with only a few animals, but we had fun seeing them and more fun exploring the park the zoo was in. We rode a paddle boat (where I lost my hat when it blew away and sunk), rode a train, and even saw a turantula in the wild (that's a first for me and makes me a bit more nervous about hiking here). Grant has been very excited to find lots of leaf cutter ants here as well. We've been watching the new Disney+ Bug's Life show and it's fun to see some of the bugs at work.
We've also been enjoying the food and we realize that they make really good grilled cheese here. Check out this cheese pull! We don't love eating out all the time, but at least there are lots of good options. Our kids are eating a lot of pizza, grilled cheese, french fries, and burgers....but that's kind of what happens when you eat out all the time. But they've embraced some of the local food as well.
Right now I don't think we feel at home here yet. It still kind of feels like vacation with school and house hunting thrown in. But I think it'll feel a lot more real when we find and move into our apartment.
