Tokyo Scavenger Hunt, Hatunous Gorge, and Ome Hills

Jake and I won a scavenger hunt game from an escape room event a while ago and we finally decided we should do it. We decided to make it a double and went with Tara and Mark. It took us to a place we had never visited before. The center of Tokyo...I don't know if it's the historical center or the geographic center, but they have a little marker at the city center. Anyway, we looked through murals, found paterns in stained glass, and tried to pick out Japanese characters in order to solve the puzzles in the scavenger hunt. We were succesful and helped free some mystical sea creatures and discovered a new neighborhood of Tokyo (and some really interesting fashion). While there we also bought the biggest baguette I have ever see and it reminded me of France so much.
On our way home we stopped in Tachikawa (立川 -in Japanese characters it looks like a drink and fries) for some delicious soup curry, and I tried potato mochi(so yummy). And we caught a magical view of Mt Fuji.
On a beautiful Saturday we took the Kids and Ezra on a hike in Hatunous Ravine. We were expecting a nice river stroll, but it was a bit more rocky and adventurous than planned. But all 6 kids were hiking champs and hardly complained at all. Pace helped out and held Ezra's hands so we could hold Kai and Jane's hands. And the hi8ke was beautiful, I don't know why we never found this trail until now. Closer to us and beautiful.
We also did a day hike in Ome hills with the Walkers and Camden. It was a lovely walking path through the hills of Ome. Added bonus is that they were really great at putting in good observation points so you could see views often. There were a lot of spur trails (and we almost got lost), but we decided to finish our hike and head back after reaching onigiri rock (not especially impressive, but the right shape for onigiri). The kids enjoyed pretending to eat the large onigiri.
