Tokyo Disney
We did it, we surprised our kids with Disney. That's how you do it right? Well, part of me is not sure I would surprise them again. Don't get me wrong, our Disney experience was wonderful. But for some reason with all packing and prepping the drive there was grumpy for us all. Our kids were fighting we were cranky and I am not sure if the mood would have been a bit lighter if the kids already knew. We stayed at a Disney hotel, which was wonderful. It meant I didn't get to see the kids reaction really because I was busy checking us in. But Jake said they were excited...and boy were they excited all night (i.e. we went to bed really late due to the excitement level, haha).
We grabbed breakfast at the hotel and headed to Disneyland the next day. We made it through the security and and enjoyed so many of the rides. One of my favorites was the new Beauty and the Beast ride. We also loved the Monster's inc ride. Kai's favorite was the famous tea cup ride...we rode it twice for him. Pace's favorite ride was Jungle Cruise and Pirates of the Caribean. Grant's favorite ride was Pirates as well. Louis loved Thunder Mountain, really any roller coaster. Kai was also extatic to meet Mickey, and even showed off his Godzilla shirt to him and Mickey showed Kai his scarf. It was a decently busy day, but we managed to ride everything we wanted to. We also loved the popcorn here and all the different flavors. Between the two days we tried carmel, garlic shrimp, chocolate, curry, and white chocolate. It was great to have around to munch on while waiting in line. We ended the night by riding all the classic rides like Pinnochio, Snow White, and It's a Small World with no lines at all. Which reminds me that Jane absolutely loved It's a Small World. Then we stayed for the Electric Parade and fireworks. It was perfect. Our kids crashed back at the hotel and we even ended up sleeping in a bit the next day.
Our last day we hit up Disney Sea and it was an overcast/misty day which made it perfect. It was empty. I was blown away by the 20000 Leaugues Under The Sea/ Journey to the Center of the Earth Area. It was so cool. We met Duffy the bear, which seems to be a Disney character unique to Tokyo Disney. We walked on to every ride that day without a line, except for the new Soaring ride, which had a 30 minute wait and Tower or Terror in the afternoon actually had a wait. I absolutely loved the soaring ride, which spoke to my love for travel. We also loved the Ariel's playground area, where the kids got to be a bit more independant and everyone could ride all of the rides. It was pretty magical looking too. We watched the It's Time to Shine boat show in the afternoon and then did a Gondola ride. We were impressed that some of the spectators knew the whole dance to It's Time to Shine and danced along with Mickey and friends. We honestly rode every ride except for the steam boat ride and the railroad, and we still got done around 5. It was a lovely day and I'm glad we made those memories together.

We're planning a trip to Disneyland (California!) sometime next year, but it definitely won't be a surprise! Hopefully knowing what is coming will help us all survive the super long drive down...
