Enoshima and Mishima

Jake took a week of leave for Christmas week so we planned out a few fun outings for the beginning of the week.  Monday we explored Enoshima Island, which is usually a summer destination, so we enjoyed it without the crowds.  The Island has so much history.  The legend of it's creation involves a 3 headed dragon falling in love, so it was of course a very enchanting place.  We started by hiking all the way out to the other side of the Island to see the cave with the dragon.  Of course stopping along the way to enjoy the view....we have really missed the ocean.

A beautiful shrine on the island

The views of Fugi were amazing

We though the dragon on this shrine was pretty awesome

These large birds were everywhere, we believe they were Kites

Mt Fugi, you can't miss it.  This is from the top of the Sea Candle on Enoshima

This beach is near the island, you can see Enoshima Island in the background

The next day we took it easy and relaxed at home and then went to see Christmas lights.  I'll include those in my Christmas blog.

Wednesday we went to Mishima Skywalk.  It is the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in Japan.  The boys loved it and

The view from the bridge

Not sure why there was a T-Rex skull on the other side.  But Kai liked the teeth

Even Kai walked the bridge with some help

Then we headed to Mishima Rakujuen Park.  It was a fun park which included a little zoo, a house of mirrors, a lake, walking trails, a history museum and a few amusement rides.

The lake in Mishima Rakujuen Park, aparently the water level fluctuates a lot.  It was lower while we were there, but we read that sometimes it is completely dry.

We're so glad Jake took a few days off to explore with us.  We really had a blast.
