Solid Foods

As promised more on solid foods.  Pace started eating oat and rice cereal a week before Christmas.  After Christmas I started making vegetable and fruit baby foods for him.  I wanted to make them, just because I wanted him to eat fresher foods, and it saves a lot of money.  Mean parent that I am I started out with green beans.  We caught it all on video, and he hated them.  Now I just hope blogger will let me upload the video, because it is so cute (I know I shouldn't have laughed, but it was so funny).  I decided to try a fruit, because I though he would like it more ... wrong.  Apples were another flop.  Luckily third time was the charm. The third baby food I made was butternut squash, instant success.  Pace loved it.  Then we made a trip to my parents house and we tried apple sauce again.  It became a hit (maybe it was because grandma was feeding him and not me).  Now we have added to the list of foods, bananas, carrots, and strawberries.  He will eat all 3, but is not a huge fan of carrots.  Mix strawberry and banana together and that is his favorite (can you blame him? Yumm!).

It has become an entertainment for Jake and I to watch as he tries a new food.  Next on the menu: Peas.  I think he won't like them.  But maybe that's just because they are green like green beans.  What do you think?

  1. You should see how he does with soft pieces of food. Calista always hated purees, but loved to gnaw on stuff, go figure.
    Pace is so cute!

  2. John and I loved how he would shudder and twitch. I wonder if he'll be a picky eater like Jake.

    1. I know, as you can tell from the video ... I thought tit was funny too. Luckily green beans are the only thing he refuses to eat.
