Arkansas

First of all I am excited to report that Jake is done with his month in Kansas and he is back here in good old Fort Leonard Wood. It has definitely been nice having him back home.  While he has been away baby has grown quite a bit.  And since he came home we decided to take a camping trip and see my Ben and Beth.
So, at 35 weeks pregnant (the last possible week that my midwife allowed me to travel) Jake and I packed up the car (ok, mostly Jake did the packing) and drove to Arkansas.  Since Ben and Beth live in Oklahoma it was a good middle place.  We met at White Rock Mountain Recreation Area.  Basically a campground and some cabins which are located on the top of a mountain with cliffs all around.  It was really beautiful in the heart of Ozark National Forest.
On the way up we took the quickest route for our direction.  Unfortunately that included 20 miles of dirt road.  Being very pregnant and bumping along a dirt road is not a very good combination.  Needless to say there were some contractions on the way up.  One strong enough that I actually had to stop the car  (I was driving) to give my belly time to relax.
Ben and Beth got there only about 15 minutes or so after us.  So we had a good time that night catching up.  The next morning we went on the rim trail that skirted the rim of the mountain  and stopped at all the look out points.  Amazing hike.  The views were great.  The only downside is that we were all crawling with ticks after that hike.  We found a couple on everyone.  Penny had the most.  The rest of the afternoon we relaxed and played games in the cabin.
The next morning we visted Shores Lake and saw Ben swim with the geese.  The rest of the day we just relaxed and played euchre, wizard, and all sorts of games.  Oh, and had to do more tick searches, because both Ben and Beth got ticks at the lake.  But besides the stupid ticks is was a really fun memorial day weekend.
