So, here we are at Fort Leonard Wood, and we are loving it. By no stretch is the nickname for this place Fort Lost in the Woods. On our trip out here when we were getting close there was a detour for a bridge being out (on a state highway mind you), which led us about 20 some miles out of the way. This saw only because there were no other roads to take. It was a pretty awesome detour, we even saw a wild turkey. The road was very curvy and hilly (probably competitive with West Virginia roads except more windy).
We have had a few requests for pictures of our house, so here they are. It took awhile, because it took me awhile to organize everything. We still don't have two of the rooms done and a lot of our pictures are up. We also don't have any curtains yet. So don't mind the lack of decoration.

| The front view. It's a duplex so I only got the part that was ours in the picture. |

| First view of master bedroom. |

| Second view of the bedroom. |

| Living room. |
 |
| Yes we have a whole wall of windows here. Its awesome. |
 |
| Kitchen (the table is just out of view, and our washer and dryer are going to be where that chair is). |
 |
| Our soon to be office and craft room. |
 |
| And the room that has no organization (or furniture) yet. |
So, you can see there is still a lot of organizing/decorating to be done. We want to get some more rugs. We just have so much space now that we are not used to. All the rooms double the size of our Wymount rooms. Don't get me wrong though, we love it. We are excited to get it all finished up.
Not shown here is our awesome back yard. We have a small fenced in part for Penny and we share a nice sized back yard with our neighbors (think awesome kickball games). We live super close to the Piney river. There are caves and a big cold water spring on base. We have visited them and they are beautiful, but I unfortunately forgot my camera on these trips. The forests around here are mostly deciduous, but there are quite a few pine trees thrown in there (mostly cedar I think). They are really dense and in some places look like a jungle because of vines growing in the trees.
As mentioned in the blog about Penny, we get a lot of squirrells in our neighborhood. We often see skunk, possums, racoons, oversized rats (not as gross as they sound, they're actually quite cute), turtles, cardinals, blue jays, and lots of colorful birds. Not to mention the occasional deer. And that is just in our neighborhood.
On a scarier note, last year there was a big tornado that hit the houses on base. Over 100 houses were destroyed. The scarier part is that we are only one house away from the field that was left behind. So hopefully there are no more of those big tornadoes headed our way. We are told that is the first time in a long time that a big one came through the base. We did have a massive thunder storm the other day which I enjoyed watching (Utah does not get them like here). Our neighbor's (who recently moved out) tree blew over. Also our church flooded a little bit in the chapel. But besides that no damage that we are aware of.
I am so glad you posted! I loved hearing of your adventures and seeing all the pictures. While Matt was at Notre Dame we decided not to go see those sites...looks like we missed out. Your new dog seems very good and so cute, congrats. It will be nice to be settled too. Good luck unpacking and have fun decorating!
