She doesn't really have glowing eyes. That was the flash :(
I put this post before our house post because we actually could not wait to adopt her and did it before we got into the house. The shelter was kind enough to keep her for us for the first few days. She was really sweet and calm when we first saw her. She gave us her cute face and her tail was going in circles. She just won our hearts. We took her for a walk and she was awesome, so we signed the papers and she was ours. She is super cute, but hates to have her picture taken (I accidentally used flash the first time and she won't trust it anymore). So I tried to do my best getting decent pictures of her (I got a lot of her walking away).
Her favorite pastimes include: 1. going for a walk, 2. cuddling, 3. looking cute, 4. getting treats, 5. going for a stroll, 6. getting pet. That is 1 being her favorite and 6 being her not as favorite (but she still loves it). When I say she enjoys cuddling I mean it. When we were still waiting for our stuff to arive here in Fort Leonard Wood we had to sit on the ground a lot. Penny would take full advantage and often end up in our laps as she scooted closer and closer. We still sit down on the ground every once in a while, because we know she loves it so much.

She has another weakness: squirrels. This may not be a huge problem in some areas, but here in our neighborhood it is squirrel central (we are talking 4-5 squirrels per yard). The first time we took her for a walk she actually got free of her leash (maybe we should call her Houdini) and chased the squirrel into someone's back yard. Luckily she let us catch her pretty easily. I've found though she is starting to get bored with the squirrels a little more, because she only notices 1 in 4 squirrels (which, remember, is still about every yard). I'm guessing in a couple weeks we can go a full block without her chasing one.
Her other mistakes have been few and far between. Once she got into a trash bag at night that was just laying on the floor (that was our fault because we hadn't put it away, because we didn't have a trash can yet). Another time she climbed on our bed (she has only done it once). We are assuming that she thought this was ok because it was the first time Jake and I actually made it (I know we are slackers). So I am making the bed everyday now, trying to teach Penny that even if it is made it is not ok for her to get on it. This is the only piece of furniture she has climbed up on.
So overall we are so happy to have this little pouch in the family.

I usually don't let her lick my face, but I was trying to get a picture of the two of us and ...
See that tail wag, that's because it is walk time.
