Culture Club Fun
I have been part of the Yokota Spouses's Club Culture Groups for three years and it has been such a pleasure. I have done so many fun activities with these wonderful ladies and I am glad to call them friends. In February we visited the Yokota Bakery (not to be confused with Sunrise Bakery). Yokota Bakery is a comercial bakery that provides most of the bread, tortillas, bagels, cakes, etc. for the comissary and restaraunts (like Burger King, Popeyes, and Einstein Bagels) on us millitary bases around Honshu. It was pretty cool to see the assembly lines making tortillas and bread. And we ended with decorating cupcakes we could take home (much to the delight of my kids).
For our activity in March we visited a hair clip museum (the traditional kind worn with kimono) and then enjoyed delicious lunch with a variety of forms of tofu (which I love so much more than I expected). Then we walked along a beautiful river.
In late February we also visited the Hamura Zoo. It was a little zoo perfect for a short day trip.
In March I did a day trip with Kai and Jane (and friends) to Kyodomori Park to see the plum blossoms. ANd they were gorgeous. The weather was so lovely we even let the kids play in the splash area there.
And since the school gave us many days off in March, we visited the obstacle corse park near base with our good friends the Yates.
The kids had a chance to meet the General Primary President, Susan Porter at a Primary Devotional in Tokyo. It was such a cool experience for them. Pace even went up and shared how he was going to help people around him.
And of course we had fun hanging around Yokota.
