Military life brings a lot of charge in life new locations and new starts. But it also helps me to bond more quickly with people, because I know I have a short time with them. Summer is PCS time (which means the military moves people around). My kids, especially Kai and Louis enjoy seeing the moving trucks almost everyday. But it also means we have to say goodbye to many good friends. Luckily we're making new ones as well.
Saying goodbye to the Sofe family was especially hard for us as all of us had friends to say goodbye to. We had many adventures, mommy/kid playdates, and fun times. We wish them good luck and hope our paths cross in the future.
In other news this month we have had a lot of fun ringing in the summer. Our life is a little bit more chaotic with everyone home. But it's fun chaos.
Louis hiding in the grass
Yes, I had to snap a picture before I stopped him
We decided to take a family picture
Louis takes on role of bishop....for a few minutes
exercising with friends
"Eating" from a cook book
We also decided to rehike Mt Mitake this month (maybe because we were missing the Sofes), but we planned a lot better and brought lunch. We made it to the rock garden and took some new friends along. We were still tired at the end and celebrated with ice cream at the end (just like our first attempt).
Jake and I made pazole, corn, and homemade cherry limeade for a date night. Yum!
Sometimes the rain couldn't keep us inside
We moved Kai into the other boys room to sleep. One night we found him sharing Grant's bed
I also had a fun farewell activity with my culture club. Some of our members taught us to make origami caterpillars. They turned out so cute and I was even able to show Pace and Grant how to make them.
Anyway, I am sure summer will bring many more adventures and we're excited for them.
