A few weeks ago Jake introduced us to a new hike that one of his coworkers took them on for PT: Pu'u Ma'eli'eli Trail. It was a great hike and it did me a lot of good to go out in nature, actually we were all a bit happier to go get some exercise, fresh air, and some beautiful views. Grant was so cheerful and kept saying things like, "Look at that family of plants." and "Those flowers are super cool." So I could tell he was appreciating the nature around him.

The week before that we had tried to attempt the same trail but we got rained out. So we walked the exercise trail that runs along Gunstock Ranch in Laie and fed some horses and donkeys grass. The kids loved it.
Last Saturday we went and played a family game of kickball on the grass near Pace's school since they have now opened up the parks on Saturday for exercise. The game was interesting, all the boys just wanted to kick, so we were short on outfielders. But we made it work. Then we threw a frisbee around and I was seriously impressed by Pace's frisbee throwing. He seems to have it down much better than me. I need to work on my aim.
Around home we have been getting into a regular home school schedule which has made it a little easier, yet still challenging. But, it is what it is and the kids seem to be getting something out of it. We nuked a marshmallow and talked about the different states of water yesterday for science....that was fun! We have also been baking, playing, and watching movies.

Experimented with homemade oreos. Very close to the real thing, just bigger and much yummier filling. The cookie would make good ice cream sandwiches too.
Yesterday we did a hike in Laie, the Ma'akua Loop Trail. It was a beautiful day and beautiful scenery. The valleys around there go so much farther back than I expected. Pace had us playing the "would you rather" game. That kept everyone happy for most of the hike. When we got back by the trailhead a group of graffiti artists painting a wall. It was fun to see all their creations and the boys had fun checking out the art and asking them questions too. Somehow we only took a picture of the baby yada one, but there were several really cool ones.

Talking with the artists. Apparently you are only supposed to paint over someone else's work if you are painting something better.

Today we got creative and made Mr Potato heads. they turned out very cute, and were pretty easy. Then I disassembled them and roasted them and voila, dinner!

Very proud of our creations

Roasted Veggies Yum...wish the boys liked them more. But at least they ate broccoli.

Not as cute when they're baked potatoes
