My heart goes out to all those who have lost loved ones, been sick, or have lost jobs because of this virus. It is a scary virus and I am sure there are numerous heartaches that I cannot even comprehend. I am in awe of those medical workers that go and risk their lives to help others. I am thankful for their example. We have been blessed to be healthy and safe in our little family.
That being said, I was initially in denial that the COVID-19 virus would really affect my world at all. Then they cancelled church, then they cancelled school, then they told us to stay home. For me, someone who gets stir crazy if I haven't gone out of our yard for a few hours, this was all a tough pill to swallow. Especially because I know this is our last summer in Hawaii. I want to get out there on the beaches, trails, boats, and any other adventures. But I am slowly starting to accept and enjoy the slower pace. I am learning how to be a better parent in a way I never had to before. Homeschooling is new and can be hard, but I am learning things about my kids, their potential, and how smart and clever they are in a way I never knew before. I get to enjoy the snuggles, noises, and overall cuteness a 6/7 month old has to give in a much less distracted way. And the best part: slower, happier, less rushed mornings together, meals together, and activities together. Don't get me wrong I still have some crazy pull out my hair moments (pretty much everyday), but I think I will remember this time more fondly than I expected. And I am thankful to know my kids better.
Here are some family highlights.
