My parents came to town in March to visit during Pace's spring break. We had a lot of fun with a few misadventures. I'm so glad my parents took this visit so that my kids could make some good memories with them. My boys love them so much and there were definitely tears when they left.
But before they came to town I had to take care of my expired licence. But after studying the drivers manual in line and practicing parallel parking before the driving test. I am officially a Hawaii drivers licence holder (it only took me living here for 3 1/2 years).
My parents took us to the Dole Plantation.

While my parents were here Pace had a parents day at school. He chose my Dad to go with him. They had a fun time writing opinion papers together. Pace wrote about his favorite restaurant Pizza Hut and his favorite game:war. They had so much fun together my dad came up with the idea of having a pizza game night. We ate pizza and played war.

With the driving around we did, my mom was entertaining the kids in the back of the van. Little did I know she even taught Kai to clap. One day I saw him clapping and I got excited. My mom thought that I already knew he could clap. But since their visit he has been clapping ever since.
We also finally made it to a destination we've been meaning to go to for a long time: the macadamia nut farm. It did not disappoint. It was a small group farm tour with a bit of Polynesian culture thrown in too. Their farm was beautiful and they did a fire knife dance and showed us how to open eat and use a coconut. They let us sample some of the produce from their farm too :)
On Sunday we had church from home because of COVID-19. It was fun to do it with my mom and it went pretty well for our first time. Then we spent the afternoon at the park. Unfortunately, towards the end of the day my Dad didn't feel well.

Unfortunately, we found out that my dad had an infection on his ankle from our hike earlier that was infected. He had to spend a couple of days in the hospital. Thankfully we got to spend the last day with him. He and my mom flew home amidst the beginnings of the COVID-19 travel bans. They made it home safely and virus free. And my dad's leg is healing.
Thanks for visiting Mom and Dad! We had so much fun! We'll miss you! Look forward to your next visit.
