I'm So Glad When Daddy Comes Home

So, it's a big adventure when Jake has a work project on the Big Island.  I get to find a way to take care of and enjoy 3 crazy little guys on my own.  It was definitely a learning experience with it's ups and downs.  But I definitely know the boys better and myself.  The boys and I missed daddy, and we're glad to have him home.

Before Jake left we tried to fit in some fun activities as a family.  We made it out to Sea Life Park and enjoyed a day there feeding fish and turtles and watching sea lion and dolphin shows.

Aww, these fish are Pace's favorite color

Checking out the fish from underneath

Amazed by the sea lions.  The really enjoyed both the shows we went to (dolphins and sea lions)

Ok, these birds may seem fun.  But they started landing in my hair and I was out.  Sorry boys.
Then we also went to Mermaid cave and Nanakuli beach, right next to it.  The cave was cool, but the boys didn't like going down in it.  It was filled with white coral pieces and the holes in the roof made it so beautiful.

After Jake left we found a lot of original ways to entertain ourselves at home.

Who knew palm fronds were such great toys for all ages?

Basically we spent a lot of time outside to beat the heat.  Lou is probably a little tired of his walker, but isn't that a cute sad face?

Bagels for breakfast.  Yes, this was a new breakfast.  And despite the sad face "agles" are his favorite.

Sitting in the baby swing on the kitchen table playing Candyland?  Of course!

Louis Started eating solids and purple sweet potatoes are his favorite (mine too :)
Pace loves to help feed him.

We slept less, of course.  But when we did it was great.

Grandpa sent us new toys

We made blueberry pie and ate it too!

My attempt at an artistic picture of it.
Grant, Louis and I caught this rainbow on our run while Pace was in preschool.

Grant tried to give himself a tattoo.  He kept saying "leg so pretty".

And what is more fun than tiger ears on baby?

We did do lots of trips to our neighborhood pool.  We also ventured to the beach a few times.  These trips kept us all sane and happy.

Don't you love how Grant gets around.  Not exactly catching the wave.

We also went to Pace's preschool party.  The boys absolutely loved mini golf and the police car.  It was fun to see Pace trying so hard at golf, that kid has determination.  Grant is not quite as interested yet.

So, having Jake gone for 3 weeks made me realize I can do hard things (a lesson I have to keep reminding myself).  We survived and even had fun.  But I really love having Jake home, at least to kill the big spiders for me.
Don't worry, I got him .... with the car.
