A Few Last Spots

Before we left Utah we wanted to see all the sights (if you hadn't caught on to that already).  Our last couple of days before all the fun packing/moving were spent exploring.  First Stop: Promontory Point.

One of Jake's favorite things are trains, so we just had to see the place where the first transcontinental railroad was completed.  They even reenacted the trains coming in.

East meets West

Jake checking out Chinese Arch, named for all the Chinese workers that helped build the railroad.

We had a blast and almost got bit by a rattle snake (well, we at least saw one).  We didn't get a picture, but here is a gopher snake that we saw.

For lunch we stopped off at the Hill Air Force museum for another of Jake's favorites: Airplanes.  More specifically, military planes.  Since I am not as into them here are the only pictures that were taken.  And I did have fun walking under them.
Do you see little Jake?

Next stop: Antelope Island.  If you are living in Utah and you haven't been, go.  Its a fun place to see bison, hike around, and swim or wade in the Great Salt Lake.  We had a blast.
In the lake.

Road block

On the island they also have an old ranch that you can visit.  Jake turned out to be a pretty good horseback rider.

Last stop in Utah: Hogle Zoo.  We love this place, and were sad that we left right before the new addition was finished.  Maybe we'll visit sometime and see the finished product.
The mandatory drink out of the lion fountain.

Look at that ferocious.....yawn.
We have enjoyed our time in Utah and we're going to miss it.  Especially being close to so many good friends and having the mountains so close.
