Back to School

This new school start felt a bit like deja vu to us. All the kids had moved up 2 years in school. So Kai started in the grade that Louis started when we moved here, Louis moved into the grade Grant started in, and Grant went into the grade Pace was in. Jane is in a different school so it felt different, but she is technically in the grade Kai started in. Only Pace is starting a completely new grade for us (7th!!!!). How is he getting so old?! It felt a bit more relaxed for me to prep for since I had most of the books, but school supply shopping is still ridiculous (school supply lists here are really specific). And they actually make you bring everything in to check that you have the right supplies. So inevitably with 5 supply lists we have to make multiple trips to the supply store (luckily we kept it to only 3 this year). So after all that I forgot to get any first day pictures with the boys; only Jane got a first day picture. But her's is a treasure.
Now I just am figuring out our new schedule (with different pick-up times and after school activities). It feels like I am always running, but I think all the kids are pretty happy with the new schedule. Jane, Kai, and Louis started swim lessons which has led to us all swimming in the pool a bit more often.
After the first week of school I treated myself to a delightful walk on the beach all by myself. It was blissfully quiet and beautiful.
Grant, Louis, and Kai have been spending a lot of their freetime building different Jurrasic Parks.
Jane has been busy practicing her amazing babysitter skills out on her baby doll.
All of us are trying to get better at working on goals in 2026.
We also tried out the new pirate pizza place near our house. It was nowhere near as good as the one in Gramado, but it was a fun night.
And just for fun here is a good picture of Kai after we made brigedeiros with out friends Anne and Sophia.
