Urso Electrico
This is our first year here for carnival. And unfortunately we have had some sick kids during the big events in Joao Pessoa, but we were able to go to the school bloco, which is a parade party. We had a forro band come and play and all of the families walked/danced along as we had fun throwing confetti and spray foam in the air (or at each other). Kids wear costumes, some adults wear costumes, and it's really lively.
After walking around we played with friends, ate popcicles, and kept listening to the forro. Colorful umbrelas are the accesory for forro dancing, and all the colorful outfits are so fun. It was a good experience for us, although Kai was a bit overwhelmed by the confetti and spray foam.
A week after on the next Saturday we were all finally feeling better. We decided to hit the beach despite the threat of rain (and previous rain in the morning). It made the beach conditions a bit less than ideal, cloudy skies, cloudier water, and choppy water. But it was still a fun beach day, and believe it or not it felt good to warm up with soup for dinner (yes, we are finally acclimatized enough that it can SOMETIMES feel cold here).
