Doelling Family Reunion

Biennial, that is my new word for the day.  It means it occurs every other year and it describes the Doelling Family Reunion.  This year we got together in the Black Hills of South Dakota (good choice Jed and Lynette).  It is a beautiful location, and we had a lot of fun.  It was great seeing everyone and we go in some great sight seeing.

Here are some things we did in no particular order:

Played get to know you games

Waded in the creek near our cabins

Went to some awesome waterfalls, and braved the cold water at one of them

Saw Mount Rushmore

Zach picking George Washington's Brain for ideas.... through his nose.

And for the second time (since I have only been there twice) we saw a mountain goat.

Visited Wind Caves National Park

Went to Custer State Park to visit both the wildlife loop and hike the needles to Harney Peak (the highest point east of the Rockies and in South Dakota)

The wild burrows were not so wild, here Mike is meeting a baby.

Cute!

Zach fitting in with the bison

Hiking in the needles.

Don't ask me what this face is, but this is on the top of Mt Harney.

Another view from the trail.

My Mom! :)

Had family history nights (learned that I was related to a German hero who defeated a giant in a joust, where the name Doelling came from, SWEET!)

And more, but those were some of the highlights.  I had a blast, but wished Jake could come.  The trip home (where we visit the Badlands) is soon to come.
